The former India player Gautam Gambhir made headlines as he reacted strongly out of anger. However, he showed anger to get the better of him, as he was observed making an obscene gesture toward fans who were chanting Virat Kohli‘s name during the India vs Nepal Asia Cup match.
This event occurred at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy during the India vs Nepal Asia Cup 2023 match. The video seems to have been recorded during a rain delay when Gambhir was leaving the stands. While walking, he could hear fans from another stand loudly chanting Virat Kohli’s name. Seemingly irritated, Gambhir withdrew his right hand from his pocket and showed the middle finger towards the crowd.
Towards the video’s conclusion, Gambhir is observed walking alongside someone who is sheltering him from the rain with an umbrella.

Regarding the game, Nepal displayed an outstanding performance in their maiden encounter with Team India. Opting to bowl first, Rohit Sharma and his team quickly realized Nepal’s determination as their opening batsmen shone brightly against India’s pace attack. Kushal Bhurtel (38) and Aasif Sheikh (58) exceeded expectations, guiding Nepal to a commendable total of 65 runs without losing a wicket in 9.4 overs.
India’s fielding errors significantly contributed to Nepal’s performance, as the Men in Blue dropped numerous catches and had several misfielding instances during the Asia Cup match. Nepal concluded their innings by achieving a score of 230 runs in 48.2 overs, with Sheikh being the leading run-scorer for the Nepalese team. On the Indian side, Mohammed Siraj delivered an outstanding performance, taking 3 wickets in 9.2 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah, who had returned to India for the birth of his child, was absent from this match, and Mohammed Shami was brought in as his replacement.
