Ruturaj Gaikwad captained the Indian men’s cricket team to gold when their final match against Afghanistan was halted due to rain. Furthermore, the Indian women’s team also achieved gold in the Asian Games.
The Indian men’s team secured victory based on their superior seeding. Afghanistan earned the silver medal, and Bangladesh earned the bronze. The team led by Ruturaj Gaikwad secured victory due to their higher seeding in the regional tournament on Saturday.

The Asian Games men’s cricket final was interrupted due to rain
Earlier, the Asian Games 2023 men’s cricket final match at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou was suspended due to rain. Afghanistan had reached 112/5 in 18.2 overs when the game was halted.
India won the toss and chose to bowl first in the Asian Games final. They performed well to limit Afghanistan to 52/5. However, Shahidullah Kamal (49* off 43) and skipper Gulbadin Naib (27* off 24) orchestrated a comeback for Afghanistan.
The pair had accumulated 60 runs for the sixth wicket before the match was interrupted due to adverse weather. Out of the initial five wickets taken for Afghanistan, Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Ravi Bishnoi secured one dismissal each, and the fifth wicket, Noor Ali Zadran, was dismissed via a run-out.
