AUS vs PAK: [WATCH]- David Warner Received A Guard Of Honour From The Pakistan Team During The Third Test

At the end of Day 1 in Sydney, David Warner, the experienced Australian opener, came in to bat for the final Test of his career at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Australia had the challenge of facing one more over before stumps, with Pakistan scoring 313 runs in 77.1 overs after choosing to bat first in the third and final Test of the series.

Warner joined Usman Khawaja to bat, paying a brief tribute to the late Phillip Hughes by touching his mural in the dressing room. The explosive batsman shared a moment with Khawaja, his longtime batting companion since childhood, before crossing the boundary ropes onto the outfield.

The Pakistani players were prepared to give a guard of honor to the retiring batsman, led by captain Shan Masood. Warner expressed gratitude to the opposing captain and thanked the Pakistani players for the gesture before heading to the crease.

With just one over remaining in the day’s play, Warner opted for the challenge, taking guard to face off-spinner Sajid Khan and conclude the day’s proceedings.

Warner had a close call on the second-to-last ball of Day 1

The experienced opener, in his usual style, aggressively hit the spinner through the off-side on the first ball. However, Warner had a close call on the second-to-last delivery when he opted to defend on the back foot, and the ball bounced just over the stumps after hitting the ground.

Warner was unaware of the ball’s location, and the nearby Pakistani fielders were astonished, even dropping to their knees. The left-handed batsman managed to play the last delivery effortlessly, concluding the day unbeaten with six runs from six deliveries.

In the initial part of the day, Pakistan bounced back from a precarious position at 47-4 to surpass the 300-run milestone, thanks to half-centuries from Mohammad Rizwan, Agha Salman, and Aamer Jamal.

Rizwan fell 12 runs short of a century, and Jamal, in collaboration with Mir Hamza, contributed significantly with an 86-run partnership for the last wicket before being dismissed by Nathan Lyon.
