Uncapped cricketers Josh Inglis and Nathan McSweeney have found their way into the Australian cricket team’s 13-member squad for the much-awaited first Test match against India scheduled to be played in Perth. What spices up the selection of the team is that neither McSweeney nor Inglis have played a Test match.
On November 22, the IND vs. AUS Border-Gavaskar series opens with the meeting of the top two teams in the championship standings. The cricket followers are eagerly waiting who would win this five-test series between the two of the best teams across the globe and would be a tough contest.
Australia’s audacious team selection shows that they are prepared to challenge India’s formidable lineup and bring in fresh talent. It is anticipated that the series will feature exciting cricket because of the big stakes.
Australia, under Pat Cummins, will want to take advantage of home conditions and get an early advantage, while India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, will try to establish their dominance. The stage is set for a titanic match between two of cricket’s greatest players.
“Nathan has displayed the attributes”- Australia Chief selector
George Bailey, the chief selector, stated that McSweeney was chosen because of his previous performances. Inglis deserves to be in the camp because of his performance in the domestic Sheffield Shield competition, he added.
“Nathan has displayed the attributes we believe will equip him well for Test cricket, along with a strong recent record in domestic cricket. His performances for South Australia and Australia A weighed in his favour and support our view that he is ready for the opportunity at Test level. Similarly, Josh has been in great touch in the Sheffield Shield competition and deserves his place in his first Test squad,” Australia’s national selector George Bailey said.
