Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden thinks the team can adopt England’s aggressive style of play into their own.
Hayden believes a few Australian players need to be proactive despite winning the first Ashes Test.
An uninterrupted 55-run partnership between Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon helped Australia secure a two-wicket victory at Edgbaston.
At 227-8, the tourists, who were attempting to reach a 281-run target, appeared to be in serious trouble.
However, Cummins delivered some vicious blows and scored the winning runs.
On Marnus Labuschagne, Matthew Hayden said, “He’s going to have to work on that BazBall mentality.”

Speaking on SENQ Breakfast, Hayden said that while England’s strategy may not have been successful at Edgbaston, he still thinks Australia can benefit from it.
Usman Khawaja needed to display the “Bazball” inside of himself, the Queenslander noted, as he faced 197 balls in order to score 65 runs.
They will only be able to play one way from this point forward. During his press conference, Stokes made the same exact statement.
“Look, we didn’t get that result, but that won’t change how we want to conduct our business,” the speaker said.
“In fact, I believe Australian cricket can take a few cues from it.”
“Even when I reflect on Usman’s second half, and this is being incredibly critical, but there was a point when he really needed to have some BazBall himself and be motivated by it.”
The 51-year-old noticed that while Cameron Green plays quite defensively, his batting has an attacking side.
“He was really in a position where he was controlling the run rate and occupying the crease. A young Cameron Green was doing the same while attempting to find his tempo in Test cricket.”
“I am aware of the fact that he can be an absolute rockstar in terms of how he plays. We have seen this through his T20 performances.”
Both Smith and Labuschagne’s innings at Edgbaston ended in failure. So they’ll be eager to succeed in the second Test at Lord’s.
