In a lighthearted revelation by Australian cricketers, Rishabh Pant has been singled out as the Indian player who sledges the most. In a video shared by Star Sports, Australian team members such as Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, and Pat Cummins unanimously pointed to Pant as the most frequent sledger from the current Indian team.
Interestingly, it wasn’t the more commonly associated name, Virat Kohli, who has a reputation for being outspoken on the field. This playful recognition further adds to the dynamic rivalry between India and Australia, known for its intense on-field exchanges over the years.
Pant’s Iconic Sledging Moments
In the same video, Pant humorously reflected on his memorable sledging moments, particularly during India’s 2018 series against Australia. He recalled a famous incident involving then-Australian captain Tim Paine, where Paine cheekily suggested Pant should babysit his kids and play for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
Pant responded in kind, claiming that he always sledges with a bit of “love.” He even revealed that his playful banter gained him recognition from the Australian Prime Minister at the time, showcasing the far-reaching impact of his humorous exchanges.
Other Indian Players on the Rise
While Pant’s sledging gained attention, India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah made headlines for his outstanding performance. Bumrah reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings after taking six wickets in the second Test against Bangladesh.
His rise displaced teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, who had previously held the number one position. On the batting front, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive performances in the same series helped him secure a career-high third position in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s solid knocks in the match brought him back into the top 10, demonstrating that both India’s batting and bowling units remain formidable forces on the global stage.
