India’s Under-19 stars and rising IPL performers, Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, have been named in the squad set to tour England for a multi-format series against England U-19. Mhatre has also been appointed as the captain for the tour.
Both players have made a strong impression in their debut IPL season. Mhatre, who came in as a replacement for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad, has scored 206 runs in six matches, including a top score of 94 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Suryavanshi, picked up by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the auction, has emerged as a breakout performer with 252 runs to his name. His standout moment came with a 101-run knock—the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 16-member squad for the U-19 tour. Along with naming Mhatre as captain, the board has appointed his Mumbai U-19 teammate, Abhigyan Kundu, as the vice-captain for the series.
