BPCL opting to bat first at the DY Patil Talegaon were off to a shaky start with opener Herwadkar falling out quickly. However, they were back into the game in a matter of few overs thanks to Mumbai Ranji’s in form Gomel and Suryakumar stitching a mammoth 214 run stand for the 2nd wicket. Aakarshit Gomel who scored a century on his Ranji Debut now stamped his presence in white ball cricket too scoring a flashy 101 off just 49 balls (9 fours, 6 sixes) while Surya continues to dominate the bowlers as he went on to score a stunning 143* off just 63 balls laced with 14 sixes and 7 fours. A knock which once again redefined Yadav’s stunning strokeplay signaling the selectors in style.
As Surya had himself agreed in an interview with Cricketer & Host Aakash Chopra– “That I am just not knocking the doors of Indian Selectors, I am trying to break the doors”
Knocks like this are indeed breaking the doors and now it’s just about time we get to see this man in the Indian attire. Suryakumar had also shared in the same interview with Aakash Chopra that Rohit Sharma motivated him and messaged him to keep performing & seems like Suryakumar has taken the advice of his senior Mumbai Indians pro quite seriously.
