Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s wife, Nupur Nagar, shared a nostalgic throwback photo of the pacer in a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) jersey on Tuesday, November 26. This came after Bhuvneshwar reunited with the franchise at the IPL 2025 auction, 14 years after his last stint with the team.

RCB secured Bhuvneshwar for ₹10.75 crore following a bidding war with Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The pacer previously played for RCB in the 2009 and 2010 IPL seasons before moving to Pune Warriors India for three years and then spending 11 years with SunRisers Hyderabad, where he won the IPL title in 2016.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar ranks among the top wicket-takers in the T20 tournament, with 181 wickets in 176 matches at an impressive economy rate of 7.56. Last season, the 34-year-old claimed 11 wickets in 16 games, contributing to SunRisers Hyderabad’s run to the finals, where they finished as runners-up.

Former India and RCB captain Virat Kohli praised Bhuvneshwar Kumar for his experience ahead of the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE. Speaking via ESPNcricinfo, the 36-year-old highlighted Bhuvneshwar’s value to the team. He stated:

“He bowls lengths so well and so consistently, which is not an easy thing to get away in T20 cricket, especially with the new ball. It’s quite an underrated thing and I think his experience and accuracy has always been priceless for the team.”

“His economy rates still continue to be top-notch, something that he’s always been known for and his experience comes to the fore under pressure,” he added.
