BCCI Names Squads For The Duleep Trophy; Shubman Gill And Ruturaj Gaikwad To Lead

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the teams for the next Duleep Trophy 2024-25, which will start on 5th September. This contest is usually played during the domestic red-ball season and it will be held at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The Duleep Trophy, showcasing seasoned international players competing with budding talents is a curtain-raiser of India’s domestic red-ball season.

As we speak there are no prominent players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli on the initial lists but some star players expected to make an appearance include Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Raviindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer.

Interestingly enough, those selected for the forthcoming Test series against Bangladesh that will be substituting in are going to feature on Duleep Trophy sections. Additionally, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s participation is dependent upon his health.

“The Men’s Selection Committee announced the squads for the first round of the Duleep Trophy, 2024-25. This tournament marks the beginning of the red-ball cricket season and features a mix of top international players and emerging talent” BCCI said.

“The action will commence on September 5, 2024, in Anantapur and at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The athletes who will be selected to represent India for the home Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy. Nitish Kumar Reddy’s participation in the Duleep Trophy is subject to fitness,” the BCCI stated in a a statement shared on X.

Team A: Shubman Gill (c), Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Vidwath Kaverappa, Kumar Kushagra, Shaswat Rawat.

Team B: Abhimanyu Easwaran (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy*, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (wk).
