BCCI To Donate Rs 51 Crores To PM’s Fund To Combat COVID-19

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to donate Rs 51 crore to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s relief fund to combat the pandemic coronavirus which is spreading at a rapid pace. Previously, Pakistan Cricket Board has also joined hands with their government to fight the deadly virus.

Since it broke out in China, the COVID-19 has taken away more than 25000 lives. China, Spain, Italy, and the United States of America are the most affected places in the world. In India also there have been more than 1000 positive cases registered with the death toll touching almost 20.

As a result, Narendra Modi has announced a complete lockdown in the country along with State Governments in a bid to curb its spread. This meant, the daily wage workers will be out of money to sustain. Thus, PM had asked for contributions to help the needy.

After many renowned personalities came up to support the citizens, BCCI has also taken a commendable step to combat the situation in the country. BCCI along with the affiliated state associations on Saturday announced to donate INR 51 crores to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund).

Apart from BCCI, former India skipper and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly also vouched to donate Rs 50 lakh to the state government. Suresh Raina on Saturday decided to donate Rs 52 lakh to the relief fund organised by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Prime Minister of India while Sachin Tendulkar chipped in Rs 50 lakh contribution.
