BCCI To Form Working Group For The 2023 ODI World Cup

The schedule for the October–November World Cup has not been released with just over four months left. During the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Special General Meeting on May 27 in Ahmedabad, an internal working group for the organization of the 2023 ODI World Cup will be established.

Since Pakistan has yet to confirm its participation in the prestigious tournament, the fixtures for the October–November World Cup have not yet been released.

Plans for the 2023 World Cup are already in motion by the BCCI

The formation of the Women’s Premier League Committee and the Infrastructure Development and Subsidy Committee, whose addition to the BCCI sub-committee requires approval by an SGM, are among the other topics up for discussion at the meeting.

Ratifying its policy against sexual harassment and discussing the standards that will be set for the hiring of trainers and physiotherapists for state teams are also on the agenda.

On May 27 in Ahmedabad, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold a special general meeting. On the agenda will be the creation of an internal working group for the hosting of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The creation of a Women’s Premier League committee, and the ratification of the prevention of sexual harassment policy.

The SGM notice was sent to the BCCI’s affiliates on Thursday by the secretary’s office. Sportstar accessed the notice’s five-point agenda, which is as follows:

1. Infrastructure Development and Subsidy Committee formation.

2. Physiotherapists and trainers should follow certain guidelines when working with state teams.

3. ICC World Cup 2023 Working Group Formation.

4. The Women’s Premier League committee is being formed.

5. Approval of the policy against sexual harassment.

The formation of the Working Group is long overdue given that the World Cup is likely to start on October 5. The Group will probably be tasked with choosing the marquee event’s venues.

In addition to the existing list of BCCI special committees and subcommittees, the Women’s Premier League Committee and the Infrastructure Development & Subsidy Committee will be established.

These committees must therefore be appointed by the general body. During the allegations against former BCCI Chief Executive Rahul Johri. The absence of the Sexual Harassment Policy was brought to light.

The policy has been evolving since then. It will be interesting to see if the BCCI establishes minimum experience or qualification standards for the hiring of physiotherapists. And strength and conditioning coaches for the state team.
