Entering the match needing 88 runs to reach the 2,000-run mark, Duckett reached the milestone in just 2,293 balls, surpassing the previous record held by New Zealand’s Tim Southee, who took 2,418 balls to achieve the same feat. In England’s first innings, Duckett registered his fourth Test century, a fluent knock filled with assured strokes. He reached his half-century in just 47 deliveries and brought up his century off 120 balls, although it was his slowest ton in Tests so far. Duckett was eventually dismissed for 114 from 129 balls, hitting 16 boundaries during his stay at the crease. His composure and ability to keep the ball on the ground reflected his confidence and control throughout the innings. The 29-year-old, playing in his 51st innings, averages a solid 42.20 in Test cricket, cementing his position as a crucial part of England’s batting lineup.

Duckett also reached a significant World Test Championship (WTC) milestone, surpassing 1,500 runs in the competition, becoming only the seventh Englishman to achieve this feat. His impressive performance added to his team’s efforts to recover after a challenging first Test. However, Pakistan’s off-spinner Sajid Khan played a crucial role in keeping the game evenly balanced, claiming four wickets on Day 2, including Duckett’s. Khan’s efforts, including key dismissals like Ollie Pope and Joe Root, ensured England did not dominate the proceedings, leaving the match finely poised.
