Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun applauded Jasprit Bumrah for his efforts at Antigua. The Indian side wrapped up the game in 4 days, courtesy a breathtaking spell by Bumrah in the second innings.
Jasprit Bumrah jumped 9 places in the latest ICC test bowler rankings and is currently ranked seventh. Jasprit Bumrah now has five-wicket hauls at every country he has visited in the longest format of the game. He is also the fastest Indian speedster to add 50 test scalps to his bag.
“Bumrah is a thinking bowler. He is aware of situations and adjusts himself beautifully. If you see the lengths that he bowled in the second innings, he pitched the ball up and was getting appreciable movements. That”s the best spell of fast bowling I have seen from an Indian in a long, long time“, said Arun to Cricbuzz.
Furthermore, he also mentioned how adaptable Bumrah was after picking up only a single wicket in the first innings.”Bumrah is a skillful bowler. He is aware of the situations and he has adjusted himself beautifully to every situation. Even if you see the lengths he bowled in the first and the second innings, it is obviously a lot more different. He has pitched the ball a lot more up and he was getting appreciable movement”, said Bharat Arun.
The second Test
The Indian side now tops the ICC World Test Championship table with 60 points. The second game will be played in Jamaica from 30th August.
The hosts have been winless in the series so far and it will be interesting if they would put up a better fight.
