Before the start of 1st One day international between India and Sri Lanka to be played at Dharamshala tomorrow, the all-rounder Kedar Jadhav has been ruled out of the ODI series due to an injury. It is a big blow for India as Jadhav contributed with bat and bowled important overs in the middle.
Tamil Nadu player Washington Sundar has been named his replacement for the series. He was selected in the T20I series against Sri Lanka to be played later this month. He might get a chance as an all-rounder. Sundar has played 12 First Class matches and scored 532 runs. His best score came against Tripura during this year’s Ranji Trophy season. Along with this, Sundar has also taken 30 wickets in 12 matches.
Sundar was named as a replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin in IPL 10 for Rising Pune Supergiants. He performed really well taking 8 wickets from 11 matches at an economy of 6.16 runs per over. It is a great chance for the young Sundar to showcase his talent if given a chance in the playing XI. India will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series from tomorrow.
Sundar impressed with the bat and ball in the TNPL 2017. He was the top run-getter in that tournament and also second leading wicket-taker playing for Albert Tuti Patriots.
Kedar Jadhav did the job taking crucial wickets in the middle overs and also hit big sixes in the end overs. He played all three matches against New Zealand, suffered injury, was there at NCA Academy in Bangalore but could not recover from the injury.
It is an ideal chance for Sundar to prove his class against Sri Lanka. He can trouble the batsmen with the stump to stump line not allowing the opposition to score runs easily.
