Ben Stokes, the captain of the England Test cricket team, had surgery to address a torn left hamstring. Following the procedure, the all-rounder shared an image of his lower body on Instagram and provided an update on January 7.
Stokes sustained the injury during England’s recent away Test series against New Zealand. The hamstring tear required surgery and will need a three-month recovery period, causing him to miss crucial matches for his team. The injury has raised concerns about his availability for upcoming international fixtures.
Notably, the England captain was left out of the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 and did not register for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. He now has sufficient time to recover before the crucial home Test series against India in June.
After his surgery, Ben Stokes took to Instagram to share the following picture and wrote:
“Bionic Man for a while π€£ Surgery β In a bit.”

The post has garnered over 30,000 likes and 200 comments so far, with many cricket fans wishing him a quick recovery before the vital Test series against India in June.
Can Ben Stokes guide England to a Test series victory over India in June?
As noted earlier, Stokes will be sidelined for about three months following surgery. He is expected to return to action in County Championship games for Durham before England’s international summer kicks off. This year, England will face Zimbabwe in a Test match in May.
England will then take on India in a five-match Test series. Last year, Stokes’ team endured a 1-4 loss to India in the five-Test series held in India. The England skipper will be eager to turn the tables in the upcoming summer.

This series will also kick off the 2025-27 WTC cycle for both England and India. After missing out on the 2025 WTC Final, both teams will be determined to maximize their points and avoid setbacks.
