In what has come has a big blow to the England cricket team, the ECB has confirmed that their premier pacer Jofra Archer will be missing the upcoming T20 World Cup and Ashes 2021-22 as he has been ruled out of the entire English summer. Undergoing further scans on his right elow, the assessment has been made and the England pacer has suffered a recurrence of a stress fracture of his right elbow.

With the T20 World Cup and Ashes series coming up, this will go down as a huge cause of concern for the England cricket team Archer has been struggling with his right eblow from last year. An untimely injury at his home further aggravated the injury as he had to undergo a surgery which ruled him out of the start of the IPL season and England’s two-Test match series against New Zealand.

In May he had an operation to remove bone fragment from his right elbow. The surgery was unrelated to a previous stress fracture, which was discovered in early 2020. After his injury, he played just one game in the T20 Blast after which he again went for rehab. Archer was deemed for a comeback in the third Test against India but is likely to go through a surgery then.

This will also come as bad news for his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals who will be missing him, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler in the UAE leg of the IPL. The three players form the core of the IPL franchise and the absence of all of them will make it very difficult for the side’s comeback. They are placed fifth in the IPL 2021 points table as of now.

Archer has picked up 42 wickets in 13 Tests so far with three 5-wickets hauls. He has 30 wickets in England in just 8 matches with an average of 26.86.
