Brian Lara is highly impressed with a talented young Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman who scored heaps of runs in the last IPL season. The former legendary batsman lauded the new batting sensation Devdutt Padikkal who outscored Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers in his debut IPL season. Devdutt had a breakthrough season and since then has pilled on the runs even in domestic cricket.
Devdutt Padikkal has got a bright future- Brian Lara
Lara spoke highly of Padikkal and believes he’s got a bright future ahead of him. Ahead of the season opener when Padikkal was rested by RCB, Lara thinks that his form will again be crucial for the franchise in the ongoing IPL 2021 season. Lara wants Padikkal to get fully fit and again score runs at the top for his and also wants to have a chat with him so that he can iron out a few flaws in his batting.

“He provided a fresh air going in there. Aaron Finch didn’t do very well and he got replaced, but if there was one constant it was Padikkal. They are going to miss him at the very beginning of the tournament,” Brian Lara said on Star Sports.
”Of course, that left-right combination as well is so very important. Hopefully he gets back in fit. I was really impressed with a few things, unimpressed with a few things as well which I’d love to love to speak to him about but he’s pretty much got a bright future,” Lara pointed out.
Meanwhile, Padikkal smashed a total of 473 runs in 15 games with five 50-plus scores in his debut IPL season and impressed several former cricketers. The opening batsman only a few days before the start from IPL 2021 recovered from COVID-19 which is why he was rested in the opening match against MI. He is likely to return for the second match of RCB which will be against SRH on April 14.
