Jasprit Bumrah has solidified his position as the No.1 Test bowler in the latest ICC rankings, released on December 25, with 904 rating points—the highest ever by an Indian in Test cricket.
He matched Ravichandran Ashwin’s record, who reached the same rating in December 2016 before retiring after the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test. Bumrah gained 14 points after taking nine wickets in the Brisbane Test. Kagiso Rabada (South Africa) and Josh Hazlewood (Australia) remain second and third, respectively.
In the latest ICC Test rankings for batters, Travis Head climbed to fourth after scoring back-to-back centuries against India in the second and third Tests, reaching 825 points. Steve Smith rejoined the top 10 with his 101 at the Gabba, while KL Rahul rose 10 spots to 40th after his 84 in the third Test against Australia.
Virat Kohli fell out of the top 20 after scoring 7, 11, and 3 in the second and third Tests against Australia. Rohit Sharma also dropped five spots to 35th with scores of 3, 6, and 10 in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Meanwhile, Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Kane Williamson retained their top three positions in the rankings.
In the all-rounders’ rankings, Australia captain Pat Cummins moved up three spots to eighth after taking four wickets and scoring 42 runs in the third Test against India. Travis Head also climbed nine places to 29th with a wicket and 152 runs in the same match.

Heinrich Klaasen enters top 5 in latest ICC ODI rankings
South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen has entered the top five in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batters after scoring three half-centuries in the home series against Pakistan, jumping 13 places to fifth. Pakistan’s Saim Ayub surged from 70th to joint 23rd following two centuries in the same series, where Pakistan won 3-0.
He also climbed 113 spots to 42nd among all-rounders. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai rose 43 places to 58th in the bowlers’ rankings after claiming six wickets against Zimbabwe, also moving up five spots to rank third among all-rounders.
In the ICC T20I rankings, Bangladesh’s Mehedi Hasan broke into the top 10, climbing 13 spots, while West Indies’ Roston Chase rose to 13th after their T20I series. Other notable movers include Rishad Hossain (up to 17th) and Hasan Mahmud (up to 24th), contributing to Bangladesh’s 3-0 series victory.
