CAN vs USA: [WATCH] USA’s Aaron Jones Hits A Massive Six Against Canada In T20 World Cup 2024

USA bater Aaron Jones hammered a mammoth 103m six against Canada, sending the ball soaring into the stands. Co-hosts USA made a dazzling beginning in the T20 World Cup 2024, securing a comeback victory against Canada in the tournament opener.

Competing in Texas on Sunday, 2 June (IST), USA showcased their batting prowess, successfully chasing down 195 runs in just 17.4 overs. In pursuit of a challenging 195-run target, USA encountered early setbacks with a couple of wickets falling as the required run rate escalated rapidly.

However, Jones and his batting partner, Andries Gous, swiftly accelerated the scoring pace, dismantling the Canadian bowling attack.

The boundaries kept coming as the duo took some risks and played some great shots. But the most exciting moment was when Jones hit a huge six off Saad Bin Zafar.

The Canadian captain bowled a good-length ball that was perfect for hitting, and Jones took advantage of it. With perfect timing, he hit the ball with the middle of his bat, sending it flying out of the ground.

USA secured a remarkable comeback victory against Canada

In the opening match of the T20 World Cup, co-hosts USA orchestrated a remarkable comeback victory. Aaron Jones and Andries Gous played aggressive innings to successfully chase down Canada’s target of 195 runs.

Aaron Jones and Andries Gous launched a strong counter-attack in the final 10 overs, turning the game in favour of the home team. Jones achieved the fastest fifty by any USA player in T20Is, reaching the milestone in just 22 balls, while Gous completed his half-century in 39 deliveries with an impressive six and a four in the 14th over.

Vice-captain Jones, who had emphasized USA’s fearless approach in the pre-match press conference, backed up his words by smashing Canada’s bowlers between the 11th and 15th overs after coming to bat at 42/2 in the 7th over.

The duo’s onslaught saw USA scoring 87 runs at a rate of 17.40 per over, leaving Canada disoriented as their bowlers lost control and fielders dropped catches under pressure. The partnership concluded in the 16th over of the match, having already built a match-winning alliance of 131 runs.

Following Gous’ departure, Jones and Corey Anderson remained unbeaten till the conclusion, steering USA to victory by 7 wickets.
