The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 between the United States and Canada is scheduled to begin today at Grand Prairie Stadium, marking the formal arrival of World Cup cricket to the United States.
America is getting ready to co-host an ICC World Cup for the first time, and in the final 24 hours leading up to the opening match in Texas, cricket was being broadcast to new audiences like never before.
A lighting projection presentation that included all 20 captains of the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever on the Rockefeller Center Building in New York City was the main event that created a lot of excitement. The exterior of 30 Rockefeller showed a picture of each of the four companies’ captains above the bustling streets of Manhattan. The ICC Online Media Zone offers a vision for download to the media.
As part of an arrangement with the league, captains Rohit Sharma of Bangladesh and Najmul Shanto of India were entitled to accept the renowned Larry O’Brien Trophy before the NBA Finals Series. Before today’s warm-up match at the same location, the captains were seeing the 34,000-seat Nassau County International Stadium for the first time.
India is set to begin its T20 World Cup journey on June 5:Â
For the first time, the USA will share hosting duties for a competition the size of the T20 World Cup. Three locations in the United States—Lauderhill in Florida, New York, and Dallas—will host up to sixteen matches.
Eight matches, including the highly anticipated Group A match between India and Pakistan, will be held at the recently constructed Nassau County Cricket Ground in New York, with four matches each scheduled at Dallas’s Grand Prairie Stadium and Lauderhill’s Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground. The last 39 games will be held at six different locations throughout the Caribbean Islands.
On June 5, India will play their first encounter at the T20 World Cup, against Ireland. But the eagerly awaited India vs. Pakistan match is scheduled for June 9 in New York. On June 1, India would meet Bangladesh in a warm-up match before the matches. After playing enough matches in the IPL 2024, all of the players on Team India have had enough time to prepare for the ICC event.
The United States and Canada are scheduled to play in the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup. The US is one of the hosts, along with the West Indies.
