Dhanashree Verma has recently made a startling revelation about her ex-husband, Yuzvendra Chahal, claiming that the Indian leg-spinner was unfaithful to her in the second month of their marriage. The couple first connected during the COVID-19 lockdown when Chahal approached Dhanashree for online dance lessons.
Their relationship quickly grew into love, leading to their wedding on December 22, 2020. However, their marriage was short-lived, and they filed for divorce earlier this year. The Bandra Family Court in Mumbai officially granted their divorce on March 20, 2025.
Dhanashree is currently taking part in the reality show Rise and Fall. In the most recent episode, fellow contestant Kubbra Sait asked her at what point she realized that her marriage was not going to succeed.
Kubbra asked:
“When did you realise in your relationship that, ‘Bhai, yeh nahi chal sakta, yeh mistake ho gaya hai abhi? (This cannot continue for long, I’ve made a mistake)”
Dhanashree revealed she sensed it within the first year of her marriage, saying (via NDTV):
“First year. Caught him in the second month.”

On last month’s Humans of Bombay podcast, Dhanashree Verma highlighted the effort she invested in her marriage with Yuzvendra Chahal, noting that people witnessed how much she supported her ex-husband during their time together.
Dhanashree stated (via India Today):
“You have to put in an effort. I know how much I have stood up for my partner, and everybody has seen that. Like for the smallest or biggest things, I have been there. Maybe because of that, my emotions came out.”
Yuzvendra Chahal hasn’t appeared for India since August 2023. He was named in the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, which India won, but he didn’t get a chance to play in any match.
