In the last league game of Tri-series, India A outplayed West Indies by 203 runs at Northampton just a few moments ago. India A captain won the toss and decided to bat first. Great batting by India A batsmen helped them to post a massive total. While chasing, West Indies lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled cheaply.
India A captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant started the innings off on an aggressive note adding 28 runs for the first wicket in 3.4 overs. Pant and captain Iyer were dismissed in successive balls. Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari played with positive intent.
At the end of 10 overs, India A scored 69 for 2. Both Shaw and Vihari continued their aggressive intent. Shaw reached his half-century off 48 balls and then smashed the West Indies A bowlers. Vihari too completed 50 off 48 balls. It was an amazing batting display by Shaw who reached his century off 89 balls.
Shaw and Vihari added 160 runs for the 3rd wicket. Shaw was dismissed for 102. Deepak Hooda scored 21 off 31 balls, Vijay Shankar made 28 off 23 balls and Ishan Kishan remained not out on 21 off 16 balls. Hanuma Vihari continued his impressive show reaching his century off 104 balls. Vihari and Vijay Shankar added 59 runs for the 5th wicket.
Then Ishan Kishan and Vihari added 65 runs. After reaching his century, Vihari smashed the West Indies A bowlers and was the last batsman to be dismissed on the final ball. India A posted a massive total of 354 for 6 in 50 overs. For West Indies A, CK Holder took 3 for 70 while O Thomas and Cornwall took 1 wicket each.
Chasing 355 to win, Deepak Chahar dismissed Jeremie Blackwood off the very first ball. C Hemraj and McCarthy added 28 runs for the 2nd wicket before Vijay Shankar dismissed McCarthy for 17. Hemraj looked in aggressive touch and West Indies A were 64 for 2 at end of 10 overs.
Hemraj was dismissed for 43 by Vijay Shankar. The India A bowlers continued to choke the West Indies A batsmen and picked wickets at regular intervals. West Indies A was bowled out for 151 in 37.4 overs. For India A, Axar Patel took 4 wickets while Deepak Chahar took 2 wickets, Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda and K Gowtham picked 1 wicket each.
India A 354 for 6 in 50 overs ( Hanuma Vihari 147, Prithvi Shaw 102, CK Holder 3/70) beat
West Indies A 151 in 37.4 overs ( Hemraj 43, Ambris 32, Reifer 26, Axar Patel 4/34) by 203 runs.
India A will take on England Lions in the finals of Tri-series to be played on 2nd July at Oval, London.
