The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed Jason Behrendorff as a replacement for Josh Hazelwood for IPL 2021. Hazelwood due to the mental fatigue of the bio-bubble decided to opt-out of the tournament which was a big surprise for CSK. Now Hazelwood’s countryman Behrendorff will be joining CSK for the upcoming IPL season.

So far the left-arm pacer has represented Australia in 11 ODIs and seven T20Is. Also, Behrendorff has the experience of playing in the IPL as he played for the most successful franchise Mumbai Indians in 2019. The pacer played 5 matches in the season and picked 5 wickets at an economy rate of 8.68.
Behrendorff will now fly to India and then complete his quarantine period after which he can begin his outdoor training with the CSK squad. The Chennai Super Kings will kick off their campaign against Delhi Capitals on April 10, 2021, at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the CSK franchise confirmed the news on their official Twitter account and declared Jason Behrendorff as the replacement for Hazelwood. Behrendorff is now the second left-arm seamer in the CSK squad after Sam Curran. The 30-year-old is known to swing the new ball both ways and give his team early wickets.
The MS Dhoni-led side will be hoping that Behrendorff can make an impact this season and help the franchise lift their 4th title. Furthermore, IPL 2021 begins today with the clash of Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai from 7:30 PM onwards.
