The schedule for South Africa’s multi-format tour to India, which runs from June 13 to July 9, was released by the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Tuesday, May 14. Three Twenty20 internationals, one Test match, and three ODIs are scheduled for the women’s team from India. For the first time since 1976, a women’s test will be held in Chennai.

Women’s cricketers from South Africa will participate in three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in Chennai and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in Bengaluru. The three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) scheduled for Bengaluru are a component of the 2022–2025 ICC Women’s Championship. On June 13, South Africa will also take on the Board President’s XI in a warm-up match.

The top four nations in the competition would automatically qualify for the India-hosted ODI World Cup in 2025. South Africa is ranked second on the table, while India will automatically qualify. Following that, a one-off test match between the two sides will be played. From June 28 to July 1, the match will take place in Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. This will be the first women’s Test match Chennai has hosted in a very long time.

There will be a three-match T20I series versus South Africa after the one-off Test. The opening game is set for July 5th, while the second and third games are scheduled for July 7th and July 9th, respectively. The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host all three games.

In addition, it would mark the first time that South Africa and India have met in women’s tests since their meeting in Mysore in November 2014. Both of their prior meetings, including the one in Paarl in March 2002, saw victories for India over South Africa.

To maintain their momentum heading into the T20 World Cup 2024, the team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur delivered an outstanding performance with the bat and ball and won the series with a score of 5-0.
