CPL 2021: Players & Support Staff Enter Bio-Bubble After 2 Positive Cases: Reports

The CPL 2021 this year will be played in St Kitts & Nevis with most of the players and the franchise officials having reached the venue ahead of the start of the season. The season will be played from August 26 to September 15. The first match will be played between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders.

Meanwhile, a total of 255 players have assembled at St Kitts & Nevis all of whom have been asked to enter the bio-bubble following two positive cases for COVID-19. A comprehensive contact tracing process has taken place along with additional testing and no further cases have been identified.

Meanwhile, the two positive cases are in isolation at the moment and are under the supervision of medical advisors and the health authorities in St Kitts & Nevis.

“The two positive cases were identified quickly following on arrival testing and were flagged with CPL 2021 while in room quarantine was still taking place for those individuals. The tournament bubble remains intact and there has been no exposure to the wider public in the Federation. We are looking forward to getting the cricket underway on the August 26.”

CPL 2021: TKR Looking For Fifth Title

TKR are the current champions of the tournament having bagged their fourth CPL title last year. The tournament started in 2013, much under the foil of the Indian Premier League. The league is now among the top three franchise T20 leagues across the globe.

Some of the biggest names from Windies cricket and foreign overseas players have graced their presence in this tournament. Andre Russell, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine are some of the legendary Windies cricketers to have played this league.

There was a combined broadcast and digital viewership of over 500 million during the 2020 season to make it one of the most-watched leagues in world cricket.
