The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has halted all cricketing activities in the last three months. With the lockdown easing, the cricketing boards are planning to resume cricket without fans in the stadium in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19. Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan has opined that cricketers will miss playing in front of huge crowds post te pandemic.

The cricketer from Delhi was chatting with veteran Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews on the social media platform Instagram. During the engaging conversation, the duo talked about the possibilities of the game post-COVID-19 pandemic.

Cricketers will miss huge crowds: Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan clearly mentioned that the cricketers will miss playing in front of the huge crowds. Notably, matches taking place behind-closed-doors is one of the main agenda for the sport to resume as every nation considers that the safety of fans is of utmost importance.

“Obviously, we are going to miss playing in front of a huge crowd if tournaments take place behind closed doors, the fans bring their own charm and aura, but at the same time it would be an opportunity as we have been sitting at our homes for two months now,” Dhawan told Mathews.

“Once we go back, we all will be very hungry to play and perform for our teams, it is going to be good fun, at the end of the day, when we are playing, it is always a good feeling,” he added.

Furthermore, Shikhar Dhawan is also optimistic about the future of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. BCCI is keen to host the cash-rich league during the October-November window. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has already revealed that not hosting IPL will incur them a loss of Rs 4000 crores. Dhawan will be representing Delhi Capitals and will hope to deliver them their first title.
