‘CSK Fans Are Ms Dhoni Fans First, And Csk Fans Later’ – Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu believes that CSK fans are primarily fans of MS Dhoni before they are fans of the Chennai Super Kings team. This is due to Dhoni’s immense popularity and charisma, which extends beyond just his team and into the hearts of cricket fans worldwide. Rayudu shared his thoughts on his strong admiration for Dhoni, emphasizing that Dhoni’s significance surpasses that of any particular team like CSK.

Chennai Super Kings have experienced a mixed season in the ongoing IPL 2024, securing seven wins in 13 matches. Their final league game will be against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 18 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. A convincing victory in this match will secure their place in the IPL 2024 Playoffs. Under new leadership from Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK aims to qualify for yet another playoff.

Gaikwad took over as captain from the seasoned MS Dhoni, who led CSK to a record five IPL championships. Despite speculation about Dhoni’s retirement, his fan following remains immense and global.

“Even when you hit a six and a four, the crowd is silent, me and Jadeja felt that in the last few years. I really believe when I say this, that CSK fans are MS Dhoni fans first, and CSK fans later. Even Ravindra Jadeja gets frustrated, but he cannot do anything,” Rayudu said on Star Sports.

MS Dhoni has a good season in IPL 2024

This season, there’s a lot of talk about whether this could be the last time we see the veteran wicketkeeper in action. Despite concerns about his injuries, Dhoni’s popularity among fans has soared. He’s been impressive with his powerful hitting, especially in the final overs, causing trouble for opposing teams by hitting big sixes.

In the 13 matches played so far, Dhoni has batted in 10, scoring 136 runs with a remarkable strike rate of 226.67. However, injuries have been a problem, often requiring ice packs and heavy strapping on his left leg, even during matches. As CSK prepares for their final home game against RR this season, and with Dhoni’s injuries accumulating throughout IPL 2024, it seems increasingly likely that this edition might mark the end of an era for Dhoni.
