The eagerly awaited IPL 2025 Mega Auction is started in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, at the prestigious Abady Al-Johar Arena. This event is historic as it marks only the second time an IPL auction is being held outside India, with last year’s auction taking place in Dubai. With 577 players up for grabs, the auction promises to be a thrilling spectacle as franchises compete to strengthen their squads for the next three years.
Chennai Super Kings enter the auction with a purse of ₹55 crore, having retained their core players. They have 20 player slots available, including 7 for overseas players, and 1 Right to Match (RTM) slot. CSK is one of the most successful franchises in IPL history, with five championships and 12 playoff qualifications. They have reached the finals 10 times, showcasing their consistent performance in the tournament.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has taken on the significant responsibility of leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after MS Dhoni. Given CSK’s strong tradition of making it to the playoffs, Gaikwad’s first season as captain was commendable. He will aim to improve and lead the team even further in IPL 2025.
The CSK management team includes Stephen Fleming as Head Coach, Ruturaj Gaikwad as Captain, Kasi Viswanathan as CEO, and Rupa Gurunath.
Here are the players CSK retained ahead of the IPL 2024 Mega Auction:
Ruturaj Gaikwad: ₹18 Crore
Ravindra Jadeja: ₹18 Crore
Shivam Dube: ₹12 Crore
Matheesha Pathirana: ₹13 Crore
MS Dhoni: ₹4 Crore

In 2023, he was instrumental in CSK’s record-equalling fifth IPL title, amassing 672 runs in 16 games and earning the Player of the Match award in the final.
Unfortunately, Conway missed the entire 2024 season due to injury and was subsequently released by CSK. Besides the IPL, he has also competed in the T20 Blast, Major League Cricket, and The Hundred. Internationally, Conway has an impressive record, with 1408 runs and 10 half-centuries in 50 T20Is.

The 2022 mega auction saw him being picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹8.5 crores. 3. Rachin Ravindra- ₹4 Crore (RTM)
Chennai Super Kings have used the RTM option to re-sign Rachin Ravindra for INR 4 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. Punjab Kings also went for the left-hander and raised the final bid to 4 crore that was matched by the Chennai-based outfit.
Ravindra gained widespread recognition after his impressive performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he excelled on Indian pitches. He finished as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament, amassing 578 runs, including three centuries and two half-centuries. His World Cup success led to his first IPL contract with Chennai Super Kings during the mini auction.

Delhi Capitals chose not to use their Right to Match (RTM) option, finalizing his transfer to CSK.
