The match between India and Afghanistan went down the wire a couple of days ago till the last moment. Defending a very low total of 225, the Indian bowling line-up put up their “A” game to finally triumph in the game and this helped to maintain the winning streak of the side. Barring Kohli and Jadhav, none of the Indian batsman were able to bat with a better strike rate as they found it very difficult to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar shared his opinion regarding India”s batting performance in the game. In an interview to India Today, he said that he expected former Indian skipper Dhoni to show some positive intent while batting.
Sachin said, “MS Dhoni is a senior player and should show positive intent. Afghanistan”s bowling is good but you can”t score only 119 runs in 34 overs. He did not show any positive intent against Afghanistan.MS Dhoni has the ability to hit but yesterday his strike rotation was not good. He faced too many dot balls and this hampered a strong finish for India. The intent could have been much better by the middle order batsmen.”
Dhoni”s score of 28 off just 52 balls at a strike rate around 50. Tendulkar seems to have not pretty much convinced with this performance and wanted him to perform up to his levels in coming games of the tournament. Speaking on the partnership between Dhoni and Jadhav, Sachin said that it was too slow and played a role in limiting the target.
India will play their next game against West Indies on Thursday at Manchester. Can India rectify their middle order problems before the game? Will there be any changes to the playing XI? A lot of answers are yet to be answered as the side will be looking to put up their best performance and make progress in the points table.
