Danielle Wyatt”s 124 helps England to chase down the big Target against India

England women defeated Indian women in the third T20I match of tri-series played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai just finished a few minutes ago. Heather Knight won the toss and invited India into bat. Smriti Mandhana 76, Mithali Raj 53, Harmanpreet Kaur and Vastarkar quick-fire knocks helped the hosts’ post 198 for 4 in 20 overs. Chasing 199, England opener Danielle Wyatt scored 124 and chased the target of 199 with ease.

England women captain Heather Knight won the toss and elected to field first. Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj started the innings on a slow note before the stylish left-handed batter Mandhana put pressure on England bowlers. At the end of six overs, Indian women scored 52 runs for 0 wickets.

Mithali Raj took time to settle before she opened her arms with attacking strokeplay. Mandhana reached her half-century off 25 balls while Raj rotated the strike. Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for 76 off 40 balls. Both Raj and Mandhana added 129 runs for the first wicket in 12.5 overs.

The Indian ODI captain Mithali Raj completed her fifty off 40 balls and was soon dismissed in the same over. Raj was dismissed for 53 runs. Veda Krishna Murthy could only contribute 3 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur played with positive intent and scored 30 off 22 balls.

Pooja Vastrkar came to the crease and smashed 22 off 10 balls which helped Indian women post their highest T20I score of 198 for 4.

Chasing 199, Danielle Wyatt gave the team a flying start. Before the end of powerplay overs, Goswami dismissed Smith for 15 runs. At the end of six overs, England raced to 67 for 1.

Wyatt reached her fifty off 24 balls and continued to put pressure on the Indian bowlers with clean hitting, also putting pressure on the Indian fielders by taking singles and doubles. Beaumont and Wyatt added 96 runs for the second wicket. Wyatt completed her 2nd T20I century off 52 balls.

Beaumont contributed 35 runs while Wyatt was dismissed for 124 off 64 balls. England women won the match by 7 wickets with 8 balls. This wins means their second win of the tri-series.
