A maiden T20I century by David Warner starts the Australian home season on a winning note against Sri Lanka. He was at his prime form smashing 100 off just 56 deliveries. His knock included 10 boundaries and four huge sixes.
Alongside his opening partner Aaron Finch, he came out all guns blazing against the bowlers. The duo added 122 runs for the first wicket paving the way for a high total on the board (233/2)
It is to be noticed that he was highly criticized for his performance in Ashes. He scored only 95 runs in the five-match series and was a constant bunny of Stuart Broad. With the home season coming in, Warner is back to his form that he displayed during the IPL 2019 and World Cup.
Not just him, even Glenn Maxwell proved his worth batting at number three. He scored a brisk 62 off 28 which further loosened Warner”s effort at the crease.
What”s further special in this innings by Warner is that he scored this crucial knock on his birthday. The left-handed batsman turns 33 years old today and was too hot to handle for the visitors.
A loss after 3-0 for the visitors
Sri Lankan side would be looking to replicate their 3-0 stint which they accomplished against Pakistan a few weeks ago. The margin by which they lost today at Adelaide reflects (134) the efforts they need to put for the next game.
Their bowlers weren”t as competitive as expected as they gave away a lot of runs during the process. The same applies to the batting department as there was an absolute surrender to Starc and Co.
The next game will be played at Brisbane on Wednesday.
