Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, completed 11 years in international cricket on Sunday. His debut in international cricket ages back to 18th August 2008 in Dambulla against Sri Lanka. Today the man is arguably the best in international cricket.
In his honour, the president of Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA), Rajat Sharma has announced that a stand would be named after him in his home ground Feroz Shah Kotla.
“Virat Kohli’s outstanding contribution to world cricket has done DDCA proud. We are happy to honour him for achieving certain milestones and unbeatable captaincy record. To cherish these memories, DDCA wanted to dedicate a stand in his name,” Rajat Sharma, president of DDCA, said.

Rajat Sharma also mentioned that Delhi cricket is proud of its contribution to the current Indian team.
“We are also delighted that Team India is not only led by a Delhi player but it also has an opening batsman, a wicket-keeper and a lead fast bowler. It’s a matter of pride for DDCA to felicitate the entire national cricket team and coach Ravi Shastri.”
The stand will be inaugurated on September 12 with Home Minister Amit Shah as the Chief Guest and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju as the guest of honour.
This move will also mean that Virat Kohli now becomes the youngest cricketer to have a cricket stand named after him.
Recently Virat Kohli also became the first man on the planet to amass 20000 runs in one decade. This is another feather in his cap.
Rajat Sharma said that having a Virat Kohli stand would serve as an inspiration to other budding cricketers in Delhi.
