Team India all-rounder Deepak Chahar tied the knot with fianceè Jaya Bharadwaj on June 1 (Wednesday) in Agra. Incidentally, Chahar had proposed to his girlfriend at the Dubai International Stadium after one of Chennai Super Kings‘ matches during IPL 2021.
Pictures from their Mehendi ceremony and other pre-wedding rituals have been doing the rounds on social media in the last couple of days. Recently, Deepak Chahar’s cricketer cousin Rahul Chahar shared a picture on his Instagram handle, where he can be seen posing with the newly-married couple.
“Happy married life you too.. Soooo happy for you and all the good wishes .. wishing you an amazing married life. Loads of Love ❤️,” Rahul Chahar wrote on Instagram along with the picture.

On the professional front, Deepak Chahar was ruled out of the entire IPL 2022 due to multiple injury issues after being purchased by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the mega auction for INR 14 crore.
Rahul Chahar, on the other hand, represented Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2022. The leg-spinner had a mixed campaign returning with 14 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 25.71 and a strike rate of 7.71.
Biggest problem for CSK was Deepak Chahar’s unavailability – Ravi Shastri
Many have attributed Chennai Super Kings’ dismal IPL 2022 campaign to the unavailability of Deepak Chahar. MS Dhoni and Co. struggled to pick wickets in the powerplay which hurt them massively in the tournament.
Ravi Shastri on ESPNcricinfo said that Chahar has a habit of picking up early wickets with the new ball. In IPL 2022, he believes the seamer would have been a success because the surfaces were favourable to swing bowling.
“They definitely missed that. He would have taken a lot of wickets this season, considering the pitches. There was some swing on offer with the new ball and the surfaces were perfect for his game,” Shastri had said earlier.
Meanwhile, the return date of Deepak Chahar is still unknown and he is likely to miss a couple of months’ action before he returns to competitive cricket.
