The Delhi Capitals (DC) contingent has gone into isolation once more after a positive Covid case emerged in the latest round of testing. If reports are to be believed true, a net bowler has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The development has come about just hours before the Capitals were scheduled to lock horns against Chennai Super Kings, at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday (May 8). Sources have revealed that a fresh round of testing was conducted on Sunday morning with all members of the contingent confined to their rooms.
The BCCI is yet to make an announcement but sources in the franchises have said they are not expecting any change in the match schedule. “We understand the match will go ahead, otherwise we would have been informed by now,” said a CSK official to Cricbuzz. “It is only a net bowler and all players are in their rooms. So we do not expect changes,” he added.
It is the second time during the course of IPL 2022 that the Delhi team has been forced into isolation. Earlier in the season, six members of the team including physio Patrick Farhart, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, keeper-batter Tim Seifert and three other non-playing members had tested positive for coronavirus.
Hence, Delhi Capitals’ games against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals, originally scheduled to be played in Pune, were also moved to Mumbai.
Delhi Capitals placed 5th in the IPL 2022 points table
Rishabh Pant and Co. have hit the roads in the last few games and are currently placed fifth in the IPL 2022 points table. They have 10 points in as many games and will have to win all their remaining matches to give themselves a chance of qualifying.
After their game against Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals will play against Rajasthan Royals on May 11, Punjab Kings on May 16 and Mumbai Indians on May 21.
