Devdutt Padikkal Gifts Cricket Gear To Young Australian Fan Post BGT 2024-25

Indian cricketer Devdutt Padikkal shared a touching story on social media on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, about meeting a young Australian fan at a cricket store. The 24-year-old recounted how he encountered the enthusiastic boy searching for a new bat and gear.

Inspired by the moment and reflecting on his own childhood, Padikkal decided to surprise the boy by purchasing the equipment for him. He later posted a picture with the young fan on his Instagram stories, sharing the heartwarming gesture.

“Saw this little kid at the cricket store today with his mom, all excited looking for a new bat and other gear. Reminded me of my childhood and how special these days at the store used to be. Offered to give him whatever he wanted on the day hoping to make his day a little bit more special. Simple joys.”

With Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma unavailable, left-hander Devdutt Padikkal played in the opening Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scoring 0 and 25 in his two innings. India dominated the match, winning by 295 runs.

Padikkal didn’t feature in the remaining matches as the hosts shone, winning three of the last four games. Australia claimed the series 3-1, denying India a third consecutive series win in Australia.

This victory also secured Australia’s spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final alongside South Africa, marking the first time India will miss the summit clash.

Devdutt Padikkal has represented India in four matches

Devdutt Padikkal made his international debut for India in a T20I match against Sri Lanka in 2021. The left-handed batter featured in two games during the series, scoring a total of 38 runs.

He later earned his Test cap during the home series against England in 2024. So far, Padikkal has played two Test matches, accumulating 90 runs, which includes a half-century.
