The Duleep Trophy will initiate the Indian domestic in 2024 and is set to kick off on Thursday, September 5. Bengaluru, Karnataka, and Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh are the four star-studded teams that have been picked from that tournament. This season’s game is being introduced for the new format since 4 teams are replacing the former 6 zonal ones.
While big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli won’t be taking part in it, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer among others are also there as they tend towards preparing themselves for the impending test match series which will start with Bangladesh.
With six scheduled four-day matches played in a round-robin format primarily, some will be competing against each other without any knockout stage. All four sides will play three matches among themselves; thus the one with the most points shall be declared champion.
The captains leading these sides are well-known figures in Indian cricket. Shubman Gill is currently leading India A whereas Abhimanyu Easwaran a seasoned domestic stalwart is duty-bound to helm India B. Ruturaj Gaikwad who captains Chennai Super Kings has been assigned a leadership role for team India C while IPL champion KKR’s Shreyas Iyer will take charge of team D respectively.

As reported by various sources, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan may miss the Duleep trophy because they are injured. The tournament will also miss by Mohammed Shami, who is still recovering from an injury.
On August 27th, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will miss the first round of Duleep Trophy 2024 along with Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik. While Jadeja has been released from Team B led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, Siraj and Umran have been ruled out because of their illness.
