Mohammed Siraj took two key wickets in England’s second innings and played his part in limiting the opposition just above 300 in their second innings. He dismissed Rory Burns and Jonny Bairstow in the second innings when both of them looked set to stay long. Bairstow especially was out to a ball which was there to hit getting caught on the boundary line.
Meanwhile, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has praised the Indian pacer for his performance in the first Test against England. Siraj ended with three wickets in the match. Hogg said that Siraj is pushing his case for playing in the Indian XI as the second-choice pacer.
Brad Hogg Praises Mohammed Siraj
“Siraj brilliant love his energy to keep coming in a full-tilt every ball and not afraid to express himself. Slowly pushing his way as India’s second choice bowler in the XI,” Brad Hogg tweeted.

After bowling England out for 303 in the second innings, India are chasing a target of 209 to win the first Test. India scored 52/1 at stumps on day 4 and are trailing by 157 runs still.
With the inclement weather in England, India would look to score these runs quickly. Rain has played its part in spoiling the progress of the Test match. The teams have already lost 105 overs across the two days and only 16 of them can be recouped by rescheduling the sessions on the final two days.
Former England skipper Nasser Hussain spoke about an early start to make up for the lost time rather than extending play in the last session.
Meanwhile, this is only the second time that four Indian pacers shared all 20 wickets of the opposition. It happened only once before against South Africa in 2018.
