Despite not getting the big scores Rohit Sharma has been instrumental behind giving India good starts in the Test series so far. In the four innings of the first two Tests, he has registered scores of 36, 12*, 83, and 21. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has said that he is close to getting a hundred in England. After Gavaskar, now Sachin Tendulkar also seems to have been impressed by the right-hander.

Sachin Tendulkar said Rohit Sharma is now taking the lead by showing the ‘other side’ of his temperament and playing according to the match situation.

“Whatever I have seen, I feel he has taken the lead and he has shown the other side of his temperament and how he can change his game and adapt to situations and play accordingly,” Sachin told PTI.

Rohit’s maiden Test overseas ton has got the entire cricket fraternity talking and even Tendulkar has said that he is the leader of the batting line-up.

“He has been a leader there and KL has supported him brilliantly. As far as playing pull shot is concerned, he has cleared the fence with that shot and I am looking at what he has been able to achieve for the team in both Tests,” Sachin added.

Tendulkar has been impressed by Rohit’s batting technique so far in the series. Though Rohit fell to his strength of the pull shot, the Little Master thought that he left and defended the ball equally well.

“Rohit has left the ball and defended the ball brilliantly or equally well. He was always a fantastic player but seeing his last few innings in England, I can say he has definitely gone a notch higher,” he said.
