Indian Opener Rohit Sharma had a decent outing in the first Test against England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. However, he once again was unable to convert a very good start into a big score. Rohit Sharma batted very well in the tough conditions however after getting set he played one shot which led him to lose his wicket. Meanwhile, former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan feels Rohit Sharma is doing a very good job as an opener. Also, Khan believes Rohit Sharma will soon convert his good start into a big knock.

Meanwhile, all format opener of India Rohit Sharma was dismissed just before lunch at the score of 36. He played his trademark hook shot against Ollie Robinson but the ball directly went towards Sam Curran.

Discussing Rohit Sharma’s innings on Cricbuzz, Khan stated that Sharma is doing a good job as an opener. Also, he said that the 34-year-old has exceptional capability to convert the 40s into 100s. He feels Rohit will score a big knock pretty soon.

“He is fulfilling his responsibility for the team at the top of the order by seeing out the tough phase and then he brings out his natural game where it’s about converting 40s into 100s, something in which he is very proficient. I’m sure you’ll see a big knock from him soon,” Zaheer Khan said.

Meanwhile, after Rohit Sharma’s wicket, India faced a major batting collapse on Day 2 of a first Test match. India lost Cheteshwar Pujara (4), Captain Virat Kohli (0), and Vice-Captain Ajinkya Rahane (5).

“He played over 100 deliveries, he got through the tough time” – Zaheer Khan on Rohit Sharma

Notably, Rohit Sharma has been better than ever since he has started opening for India in Tets. At home, he has turned out to be the best batsman from the Indian Test side. However, outside the home things have not been the same. In overseas conditions, Rohit has failed to score big runs for the team. Zaheer Khan believes Rohit has done a good job for his team. Zaheer asserted:

“He had done the hard work. Not only in this innings, but before as well. When natural instinct takes over after having dealt with the initial tough phase of play, he, unfortunately, loses his wicket. You cannot curb your natural instinct for a long period of time. He played over 100 deliveries, he got through the tough time, so he already did the job for his team,” Zaheer Khan elaborated.
