Former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta was all praise for England skipper Joe Root, who hit a magnificent hundred on day three at the Lord’s cricket ground.
Root scored 180 runs off 321 deliveries, including 18 boundaries to help England take the vital first-innings lead. He got together with Jonny Bairstow to stitch a crucial 120-runs partnership for the fourth wicket. This was Joe Root’s twenty-second test hundred, and his seventh against India in test matches.
He’s done it again! Root strokes his way to another fluent century. 🏏

In a video uploaded on Deep Dasgupta’s youtube channel, he said that Joe Root is the player who is standing between India and a victory on this test match. Deep stated,
“Joe Root has already hit five hundred this year, including two double hundreds, and has already scored more than a thousand runs. His specialty is that he is a very wristy player and plays more square of the wicket. He has kept the scoreboard ticking and he stands between India and a victory.”
The ball is in India’s court: Deep Dasgupta
Deep Dasgupta believes that England is slightly ahead of India in this test as the Indian middle-order has underperformed in the series. He further added that India needs to be proactive as the ball is in their court at the moment in this test match.
“I think England would be in a better position. They have a lead but it is not that huge. India’s middle-order has not fired and if a wicket falls early, they will be on the back foot. However, if they are to win the game, the ball is in India’s court. They will need to be proactive but negotiating the first hour will be crucial.”
India’s openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will resume the play on day four at the Lord’s cricket ground.
