Team India is all set to face England in the five-match Test series. The first match of the series is all set to begin on Wednesday, August 4. Meanwhile, skipper Virat Kohli talked about Shardul Thakur and labeled him as a multidimensional cricketer.

While talking with the media Virat Kohli was asked about Shardul Thakur’s ability to fill in as an all-rounder in the absence of champion all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Virat Kohli responded that Shardul can fill the role and he brings a lot of balance to the team in every format.

“Yes, he definitely can be created. He is already a multi-dimensional cricketer. And it’s all about him getting more and more confidence with performances like Brisbane and someone like him obviously brings a lot more balance to a test team or any other format of the game,” Kohli said on the eve of the first Test.

Notably, team India doesn’t have star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the England tour. Hardik Pandya has been struggling with the back injury lately. Due to the injury Pandya was unavailable to deliver spells for the team. Hardik Pandya played as a complete batsman in the team for a specific period. However, he recently made a comeback in bowling during the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. However, Still, he is not ready to full fill the role of a complete all-rounder in Test cricket.

Virat Kohli asserted that Hardik Pandya is getting back on the track of bowling regular spells for the team. He also said an all-rounder definitely helps the team. Also, Kohli termed Shardul Thakur as a huge prospect for team India moving forward.

“Hardik has done so well for us in the past, and right now he is getting back on track to bowling regularly. But, yeah these kinds of cricketers obviously help the team in a massive massive way and Shardul is a huge prospect for us and someone who is going to be very important not just in the series but moving forward as well.”
