Day 3 of the 1st Test between India and England at Trent Bridge witnessed an exchange of words between cricketers from both camps. Young Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj also had a duel with veteran fast bowler James Anderson, who tried to put Siraj under pressure with consistent bouncers.
After Rishabh Pant got out early, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja shared an important partnership to guide India to a crucial lead. They were reduced to 232-8 and further to 245-9, with their lead standing at 62 runs back then. The last-wicket stand between Jasprit Bumrah-Mohammed Siraj, however, continued to frustrate the English bowling line-up as they added a vital 33-run stand, enabling the lead to go beyond the 90-run mark (95).
India were finally bundled out for a modest 278 after Siraj (7 not out) and Bumrah (34-ball 28) played their shots and kept the scoreboard moving. However, a frustrated James Anderson was seen throwing some words at Mohammed Siraj, who also didn’t back down. Their sledging didn’t escalate further or turned ugly but it certainly became one of the talking points during the tenth-wicket partnership.

James Anderson returned with 4/54 in the first innings
The highest Test wicket-taker among pacers, James Anderson, was once again outstanding in the first Test. He returned with figures of 4/54, including Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul.
Anil Kumble, who is now the fourth-highest wicket-taker, hailed Anderson for his impeccable achievement. Taking to Twitter, the former India skipper wrote:
“Congratulations @jimmy9. Fantastic to see a fast bowler get up there.”
