Team India cricketer Virat Kohli’s rough patch continued on India’s tour of England, 2022 on Saturday, July 9. He was again dismissed for a paltry score in the second T20I match at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. Virat Kohli has been struggling to put up a big score in international cricket for the last couple of years. There have been questions raised about his place in the Indian T20I squad, with the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 around the corner.

With the lack of runs under his belt, the right-handed batter would have thought to get off to a good start in the second T20I. However, his stay at the crease only lasted three deliveries. Kohli tried to go the aggressive way early in his innings. In the sixth over, he looked to take on debutant Richard Gleeson. However, the ball took the top edge, and Dawid Malan took a great catch around the backward point region to end Kohli’s stay.

Virat Kohli replaced the in-form Deepak Hooda in the playing XI for the second game. He was rested for the first T20I match against England. The veteran batter averages 23.33 this year in three T20Is, scoring 70 runs at an average of 122.80, with the highest score of 52 runs.

Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to Virat Kohli’s dismissal:

India lose half the side for just 89 runs on the board

The Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant started off the innings on an aggressive note. They took on the England bowlers, trying to put the pressure on the hosts early in the innings. However, the plan did not work as they would have wanted. India has lost five wickets with just 89 runs on the board in around eleven overs.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya was the latest to get out in the innings. Debutant Richard Gleeson has been the pick of the bowlers for England. He has dismissed the top three of the Indian batting – Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Virat Kohli. After Hardik Pandya’s dismissal, Dinesh Karthik joined Ravindra Jadeja at the crease.
