The ninth match in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be held on October 7 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah between England Women (ENG-W) and South Africa Women (SA-W).

However, South Africa women have also started their campaign strongly, the side having just thrashed the West Indies women by a margin of 10 wickets. After winning the toss and deciding to bowl first, Hayley Matthews’ Windies were bundled out for 118 for 6. In response, Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt put on a match-winning opening stand to help their team win two vital point see their side remain on top of the points table.

There have been 24 T20I games between South Africa’s women and England’s women in their history as rivals. With 19 wins, England leads the head-to-head record, while South Africa has only managed four wins. The only time a match was called off due to inclement weather was in 2011.
Who will win the match?
As it was expected, a tight contest was expected in the South Africa Women vs. England Women game. Leading from England, Heather Knight’s side is packed with powerful batting lineup Alice Capsey and Nat Sciver-Brunt. The two bowlers who make up that intimidating partnership are named Charlotte Dean and Sophie Ecclestone.
But recently, South African team has been impressive under the leadership of Laura Wolvaardt. They are led by bowlers such as Ayabonga Khaka and Nonkululeko Mlaba, and backed up by Marizanne Kapp and Chloe Tryon; two players who are equally capable with bat and ball.
