It”s been a good three weeks since the World Cup got over but India captain Virat Kohli and Co. haven”t got over the heartbreaking loss to New Zealand in the semi-finals. The men in blue finished as table-toppers at the end of the round-robin games but went down crashing in the knock-outs.
Kohli reflects on life after the painful loss
Ahead of the 1st T20I game in Florida against West Indies, Kohli addressed the media. He said that the side has now turned their focus on the World T20 next year. “The first few days after we exited the World Cup were quite difficult,” Kohli said. “Till the time the tournament got over, every time we woke up it was the worst feeling in the morning. Then through the day, you do things and sort of get on with your life. We are professionals. We move ahead. Every team has to move on.” the 30-year-old said.
Team India didn”t train on Friday while their practice was cut short on the previous day due to rain in Lauderhill. In the previous occasion- three years back, India lost to the West Indies by one run in Florida. The side will look to set the record straight this time around.
Not a houseful in Florida?
Meanwhile, the chances of witnessing a packed stadium look slim as tickets are still available. The absence of MS Dhoni and Jasprit Bumrah might have played a part in convincing the locals to watch the game from home while eating the taco.
“For now I think it”s all about creating that buzz and just getting people in to watch the games,” Kohli said. “The more we come here and play, obviously the game is going to get more and more buzz around it, people are going to talk about it. You see 15,000-20,000 people going to a place to watch something, obviously, it should be important.” he added.
