Faiz Fazal expressed profound disappointment and emotional distress due to his limited opportunities to play for the Indian national cricket team. He conveyed his feelings of hurt and frustration, recounting his debut in June 2016 against Zimbabwe, where he showcased his talent with an impressive innings, scoring an unbeaten 63 runs.
Despite his noteworthy performance, he found himself sidelined thereafter, unable to secure another chance to represent his country. Reflecting on the pride he and his family felt seeing him don the national colours, Fazal acknowledged the hard work and dedication he had put into his domestic cricket career, which ultimately earned him a spot in the Indian team.
However, he lamented the lack of continuity in his international career, expressing discontent over being overlooked following his debut match.

Faiz Fazal said: I’m a very emotional guy. Small things hurt me, or small things make me really happy. And earning that India cap was the proudest moment for me and the family. That was the biggest high. You can look back and say, ‘oh it was just one game’, but also, I was the only one in that squad who didn’t play in the IPL,”
“So, I looked at that opportunity as a reward for my domestic grind. Did I feel disappointed and hurt at not getting another chance? One hundred percent. Did it affect me? It definitely did. But then, you also realise how lucky you are.”
The memory of his debut, marked by his significant contribution to India’s victory, remains bittersweet for Fazal, serving as a reminder of both his talent and the frustration of unfulfilled potential on the international stage. Despite his disappointment, Fazal remains grateful for the opportunity to have represented India and continues to strive for further chances to prove himself at the highest level of cricket.
