Rain disrupts play on the opening day of the Gabba Test in Brisbane
On the opening day at The Gabba, India won the toss and decided to bowl first, a choice that faced significant criticism from various experts, including Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Many questioned the decision, suggesting that batting first could have been a better option.
Only 5.3 overs were bowled before rain interrupted play, causing a delay. Though play resumed briefly, the weather and ground conditions deteriorated as the rain returned, heavier and more persistent than before. Ultimately, play had to be called off for the day.
In total, just 13.2 overs were bowled, with Australia at 28 for no loss. The opening batsmen, Nathan McSweeney (4*) and Usman Khawaja (19*), will continue their innings on Day 2.
