Fans Troll Rohit Sharma, Urge Retirement After Poor Performance in Nagpur ODI

Indian cricket fans were left disappointed as skipper Rohit Sharma’s poor run of form continued in the first ODI against England in Nagpur. Scoring just 2 runs off 7 balls before getting dismissed, the Indian captain faced heavy criticism and trolling from fans on social media. Fans even suggested that he should retire after his prolonged struggles across all formats of the game.

Rohit Sharma’s Recent Struggles

Rohit’s form has been a major concern for Team India. His miserable run began during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he managed only 31 runs from 5 innings. Following his poor display, he opted out of the final Test, and India eventually lost the series 1-3.

Hoping to regain form, Rohit played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. However, his performance remained disappointing as he failed to make an impact in the match against Jammu and Kashmir.

India vs England Nagpur ODI – A Crucial Match

India lost the toss and was put under pressure early as England’s Phil Salt and Ben Duckett gave them a solid start. However, some sharp captaincy moves from Rohit helped India bounce back and bowl out England for 248 runs.

Opening with young Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit played cautiously. He got off the mark with an aggressive shot but failed to time it properly. Jaiswal’s dismissal in the 5th over put extra responsibility on Rohit, but his poor form continued. In the very next over, he attempted a flick shot off Saqib Mahmood but mistimed it, gifting a simple catch to Liam Livingstone.

Despite being one of India’s most reliable batters in the past, Rohit Sharma’s recent form has been concerning, with only 166 runs at an average of 10.37 in his last 16 innings and no fifty-plus scores across all formats in recent matches.

Social Media Reactions

The reaction from fans was brutal. Twitter was flooded with memes and sarcastic comments:
