“Felt Good That He Appreciated Us After Our Victory” – Rohit Sharma Comments On MS Dhoni

Team India captain Rohit Sharma commented on MS Dhoni‘s appreciation post following their victory in the T20 World Cup on Saturday, June 29, at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The 37-year-old expressed his joy at seeing Dhoni’s post and reminisced about Dhoni’s contributions to Indian cricket.

Dhoni had previously led India to victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, defeating Pakistan in a thrilling final in Johannesburg. The cricketer from Ranchi further cemented his legacy as a captain by leading the team to wins in the 2011 50-over World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Dhoni mentioned that his heart rate increased during the final and expressed gratitude to Team India for the priceless birthday gift, as his birthday is on July 7. Responding to Dhoni’s remarks, Rohit said, as quoted by ANI:

“Dhoni was a fabulous player. He did a lot for us and the country. I felt good that he appreciated us after our victory.”

The captain led by example in the World Cup, scoring 92 and 57 in key matches against Australia and England, respectively. Although Rohit was dismissed for a single-digit score in the final on Saturday, he retired as the highest run-scorer in T20Is with 4231 runs in 159 matches.

“Glad that we finally crossed the finish line this time”- Rohit Sharma

At the post-game press conference, Rohit Sharma confessed his eagerness to win the trophy and expressed his happiness at finally achieving it. He stated, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo:

“I wish I could capture that moment myself but not really, you can’t do that but I will always remember that.”

”Yeah, those are the moments you wait for and then you don’t plan these things, it just happens because you’re so desperate for certain things in life and I was very desperate for this in my life. So happy that we eventually crossed the line this time.”

Alongside Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli also announced his retirement from T20Is. The illustrious duo retired as the top two run-scorers in the format.
